The Longhouse, Waunifor Cottage
LLandysul, Teifi Valley

Welsh holiday cottage location

Waunifor is located in the beautiful Teifi Valley on the borders of Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion and only 12 miles from the delightful unspoilt beaches of Cardigan Bay. The Longhouse is one of 6 self-catering holiday cottages set in 5 acres of magical gardens and grounds along a quiet rural lane with stunning views of the surrounding countryside. The area is teeming with wildlife, including a huge variety of birds, squirrels, frogs, dragonflies and is a paradise for walkers, cyclists, bird-watchers and fisherman. There are many local attractions including the National Woollen Museum, Norwood Gardens, Museum of Childhood, Dolacothi Gold Mines, Newquay Honeyfarm and Pembertons Chocolate Factory. For the more active holidaymakers local activity centres offer canoeing, kayaking, coasteering, gorge walking, sailing and windsurfing. There are 6 or 7 beautiful beaches within easy reach varying from coastal fishing villages such as Newquay to remote National Trust sands such as Penbryn and Mwnt.

Carmarthenshire is known as “The Garden of Wales”, a fitting description, given its undulating green landscape rich with exquisite woodland parks and gardens. The area is home to the National Botanical Garden of Wales, where the Great Glasshouse houses over 1000 rare and endangered plant species from around the world. Heritage and dramatic castles are plentiful, including the spectacularly situated Careg Cennen which stands isolated on rocky stack high above the river Cennen. The Longhouse cottage nestles in the idyllic Teifi Valley, a short drive from the stunning Cardigan Bay. The coast has an abundance of glorious, sandy blue-flagged beaches including Cefn Sidan Sands, the largest beach in Wales. This part of Wales has endless activities for children; the West Wales Museum of Childhood, with its collection of toys through the ages will keep them enthralled, while the Gwili Railway is a lovely trip by steam that twists through the verdant countryside. The area is fringed by 3 estuaries providing a multitude of angling, sailing, kayaking, walking and birdwatching opportunities and it is within easy reach of the Cambrian Mountains and the gorgeous Prescelli Hills of Pembrokeshire. This beautiful self-catering cottage in Carmathenshire is the perfect base from which to explore this exquisite part of Wales.
