This gorgeous country cottage providing self-catering accommodation for up to 4 people in 2 bedrooms is situated in the village of Itton, amidst the glorious countryside of Monmouthshire, Wales. It is ideally placed to explore the Wye Valley, Vale of Usk and Forest of Dean and is only 3 miles from the lively border town of Chepstow described as the true gateway to Wales. There are an abundance of activities and attractions in this part of Wales from walking, cycling, golf, historic castles to having a flutter at Chepstow Races which holds regular meetings and is host to the Welsh Grand National.

A superb destination for walkers - the cottage is in an area of outstanding natural beauty and Offas Dyke and the Wye Valley walk are not far away as well as many more footpaths on the doorstep to choose from. The owner is a keen walker and the transport to and from walking points can be negotiated at an extra cost. The Forest of Dean is considered to be one of the best mountain bike areas in the country and there are over a dozen golf courses in the area, including The Celtic Manor, host to the Ryder Cup 2010, and the famous Rolls of Monmouth. Canoeing, Archery and the National Diving Centre are also within easy reach. For local historic interest, the castles of Chepstow, Caldicot and Raglan are all but a few miles away including the famous Tintern Abbey beloved by Wordsworth.

If you are looking for a mix of culture, shopping and outdoor pursuits for whatever age, then Monmouthshire cottage is for you; the major cities of Cardiff and Bristol are less than 45 minutes by car and offer unique attractions, top class entertainment and quality shopping with a difference.

Accommodation:
This detached two bedroomed cottage sleeping up to 4 persons is set in its own lovingly tended private garden with fabulous views to the surrounding countryside. The cottage is bright and airy and has been recently decorated, fully carpeted and centrally heated throughout and is beautifully furnished with traditional furniture. The spacious lounge has comfy sofas, period furniture and a wood-burning stove making it particularly cosy in winter. There is a TV/DVD/CD player in this room, as well as a library of paperback books, (which you're welcome to take home with you - just leave behind one of your own books), local maps and guides. The cottage has lovely nostalgic feel to it, a working gramophone with a few 78's will transport you back to a different era; take afternoon tea with bone china tea sets and tablecloths that create that vintage atmosphere. The fully fitted kitchen in this pretty Welsh cottage has enough dining space for 4, and a highchair can be supplied on request. The cooker, microwave, fridge and full use of a washing-machine/dryer on request, offers good facilities for self-catering for a small family or group.

Upstairs has one single bedroom and one double bedroom, with each of the bedrooms having lovely views and enough space for a put you up bed for the 4th person. A cot can also be arranged on request. The bathroom has a full sized bath and overhead shower and fluffy towels and handtowels are provided for each guest.

Outside, there is a lovely garden with south-facing patio, beautiful flowers and an old orchard - a great place to relax with a glass of wine and enjoy the wildlife and glorious views of the surrounding countryside. The cottage has an outside tap for washing walking boots, as well as lockable storage for bikes. The owner has provided binoculars for you to view the birds and buzzards, friendly squirrels and maybe even a badger - all part of the ever present wildlife at this tranquil Monmouthsire retreat.

Monmouthshire Cottage is in the village of Itton, easily accessible from the M48, M4 and M5 motorways.

What's included:
Heating, small basket of logs, bed linen and towels are provided and included in your rental. Transport for walkers can be provided at a price arranged with owner.

Change over day is Saturday but can be flexible. Guests are asked to vacate the property by 11.00 and new guests are welcome from 14.00 hours. Weekends and short breaks are available - please email for details.
