Milford Haven tourist guide
The port town of Milford Haven, second largest by population in Pembrokeshire, was a former centre for the now defunct whaling industry - an industry that was long in decline. As a result of both this decline and the size of the natural port - the biggest in Wales and the sixth-largest in the UK - the town initially re-invented itself as a naval port, recently swinging full-circle to once again return to oil - this time crude mineral oil and home to one of the largest liquid natural gas terminals in the world today.
There's plenty to do in the area - from planning a route along the wonderful Pembrokeshire Coast Path, shopping, walking or the more unique forms of leisure pastimes, boat spotting by the river! The relatively recent transformation of the town's dock area and an improvement of the town's streets into a modern marina area has given Milford Haven a wonderful new lease of life, combining old and new to provide an excellent visitor experience, including restaurants, bars, shops, leisure and the fascinating Maritime museum giving the visitor an insight into the fascinating history and heritage of the town.
The golfing enthusiast will also be at home in MiIford Haven. The excellent Milford Haven Golf Club, with its panoramic views of the local waterway and South Pembrokeshire Golf Club, overlooking Pembroke Dock are both adjacent to the town.
