Caldicot tourist guide

Another town featuring a fine Norman castle is Caldicot, although this castle, which sits magnificently in a wonderful woodland park, is perhaps most famous today for the traditional Medieval banquets held in the mighty banqueting hall where visitors have the option of travelling back to times past by wearing period clothing and 'acting' Medieval. It was only during the latter part of the 19th Century that the castle was transformed into a family residence.

The town marks an important route through Wales, as is seen by the nearby Severn Bridges crossing the river and the remains, just outside the town, of what was the largest settlement in Roman Wales, Venta Silurum.
