Holly Cottage, Golly Farm, Burton, Wrexham, North East Wales |
|
Holly Cottage is situated in a peaceful area of the gorgeous north Wales countryside, one of two 5 Star cottages set
in 7.5 acres on Golly Farm. The area has an abundance of interesting places to visit and offers plenty of
opportunities for walking and cycling yet it's only 10 miles from the Roman city of Chester and 8 miles from Wrexham.
Holly Cottage is the perfect base for touring the Vale of Llangollen, the Clwydian Hills, Ceiriog Valley and Snowdonia
National Park. The area has great motorway connections to Liverpool, Manchester, the Derbyshire Peak District and the
Lake District making it perfect for a stress-free UK touring holiday or a long weekend. If you are looking for
flexible sleeping accommodation for 2 couples or for a walking or cycling holiday for 4-8 people, then why not rent
Holly and Celyn Cottage together?
The farm is 2 miles from the village of Rossett, where you'll find everything you need - a variety of shops, a post
office, bank, chemist, off-licence, and plenty of pubs and restaurants. There is also a local farm shop within a mile,
for fresh meat, poultry and eggs so you can rustle up a home-cooked breakfast from locally-grown produce.
This corner of Wales has an abundance of castles, National Trust properties, historic houses, churches and gardens to visit,
including the 13th Century Flint Castle that clings to the edge of the Dee Estuary, and the gigantic and well-preserved
Chirk Castle with its beautiful views of Cheshire and Shropshire. Erddig Hall is also a lovely day out - and its
magical gardens, ornamental hedgerows and beautiful water features make it an idyllic place for a family picnic or a
romantic stroll.
From the Clwydian Range with its trickling streams and rare birds, at the core of the Borderlands, to the green
slopes of the Dee Valley and the awesome Horseshoe Pass, the countryside surrounding Holly Cottage is a walker's
paradise. The paths are varying difficulties and lengths, perfect for all levels of stamina!
One of north Wales 's unmissable attractions is Llangollen Wharf where you can take a horse drawn canal trip or a
motorised aqueduct cruise across the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct built by Thomas Telford. It's also an easy drive from the holiday cottage to the historic and interesting market towns of Wrexham, Llangollen, Shrewsbury, Nantwich among others, great
places for you to soak up the unique atmosphere of the Borderlands and to get that shopping fix!
The region is well known for its music - the Bryn Terfel Festival, Faenol, in August and the Chester Summer Music
Festival in July provide music for all tastes and genre. Holly Cottage is also a convenient place to stay for the
annual International Eisteddfod, a feast of music, dance and performance in the beautiful town of Llangollen.
Fancy a flutter? Depending on the season, the Grand National horse race at Aintree and flat racing at Chester and
Haydock Park, should satisy, while Point-to-Point lovers can head to Bangor-on-Dee.
After a day at the races or whether you've been walking, shopping, horseriding, playing golf or sampling Welsh
culture, Holly Cottage provides a beautiful place to return to, enjoy a drink on the patio and soak up the
