Pembrokeshire has some of the most beautiful beaches in Europe with an ever changing coastline - from towering limestone headlands, curved scarlet red sandstone inlets, glacial valleys, golden sands and pretty harbours. There are some cosy pubs and really romantic, gourmet restaurants in Tenby and for couples looking for an amorous break, the area has gorgeous maritime cottages perched on the narrow streets, a short distance from the fishing boats at the bustling harbour. For a family holiday, Tenby's dune-edged beach with one and a half miles of gently shelving sands provides a perfect playground for children and the snaking streets also contain larger Victorian holiday homes, thoughtfully equipped with all the modern conveniences needed to make a great self-catering vacation.
If you fancy a real hideaway, a number of tiny islands lie off the coast, Skomer, a wildlife paradise with lovely secluded bays and lichen covered sheer cliffs where gulls and cormorants nest. The centre of the island has self-catering bunkhouses that can sleep up to 15 people in 5 rooms, making an unforgettable holiday for nature-lovers and walkers alike. Inland lie the Preseli Hills with fascinating prehistoric sites and open walking amidst meadows and big horizons.
