This lovely barn conversion nestles in a quiet wooded valley, providing refurbished quality self-catering for four plus one on camp bed or cot. This part of West Wales is steeped in history and visitors choose it because of its wonderful coastline, numerous sandy beaches and ample opportunities for walking, including the spectacular Pembrokeshire coastal path. The cottage is just outside St Clears, a small town just 10 miles west of the bustling town of Carmarthen. Laugharne Castle is approx 10 minutes away and the shopping town of Narberth approx 20 minute drive.
Adjacent to the barn is 40 acres of private woodland with tracks suitable for walking at all times of the year and the valley is perfect for birdwatching - at the last count there was 47 species! There are also foxes and badgers on the farm.
Children will love this cottage in Wales - it is just 2 miles from the lovely seaside town of St Clears and a short drive from Tenby with its vibrant colourful houses. Spectacular beaches are only 5 miles away while just 6 miles to the south is Laugharne, famed for Dylan Thomas. Local attractions include the fishing and canoeing on the River Teifi, Aberglasney and the Botanic Gardens. The island of Skomer can be reached on a day trip, and you might even see some puffins.

The cottage is a beautifully converted barn, with whitewashed walls, solid oak beams and light wood flooring, many of the materials handcrafted from the nearby woods. The cottage is all on one level, apart from one step into the bathroom. The huge open plan sitting room/diner is spacious, light and airy and has two comfy leather sofas, pretty colorful cushions and rugs, and a large beanbag which children will love. There is a large table and dining chairs, perfect for playing the abundance of puzzles and games. The cottage is equipped with Digital TV, a DVD and an Ipod docking station - and Wireless broadband is included, simply bring your own laptop. French windows open out to the patio and the lovely views and underfloor heating provides fabulous warmth.
The kitchen of this pretty self-catering cottage has a rustic stable door and a table and chairs situated so you can watch the wildlife over breakfast! It is very well equipped with all the modern conveniences you need for a self-catering holiday - a ceramic hob, oven, dishwasher, washing machine and microwave as well as lots of baking trays so visitors can bake with their children. The owners can provide fresh eggs from their chickens - delicious!
The two simply-furnished bedrooms sleep four very comfortably in one double and two twin beds. An additional small camp bed or travel cot can fit in either bedroom providing accommodation for five. The modern tiled bathroom is equipped with power shower, bath, washhand basin and WC.
Outside is a wonderful south facing patio where you can BBQ all year round if you wish. The barn has a small lawned area with 2 swings for children, beyond which is a stream which you can hop across in the summer or use the hand-railed bridge when the water is high. Access to the surrounding woodlands is about 5-10 minutes walk, the first part of which is quite a steep climb. The Old Oak Barn has a stone lane approach - one-third of a mile long and there is ample car parking for 2 cars next to the barn.

Heating and electricity are included in the rental price. Bed linen provided. Towels are provided to visitors travelling from abroad. Last minute discounts apply.
Lets are available weekly and change over day is Friday. Check out by 10.30. Check in from 1pm. Short breaks are available outside July/August - please enquire.
