Newcastle Emlyn, Carmarthenshire
A cottage holiday to remember is assured at this stunning cottage near Newcastle Emlyn, Carmarthenshire. This self catering holiday cottage at Blaenfforest was created from the Old Diary on the footprint of the original farm (The Granary has also been converted into a delightful cottage that sleeps 4). The original Welsh stone cottage is surrounded by ten acres of idyllic countryside, rich with wildlife. It stands in a private and secluded situation yet it is a perfect holiday location as it is convenient for Ceredigion and Cardigan Bay, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire.
Only 2 miles away, at the thriving market town of Newcastle Emlyn, there some wonderful shops, a wide range of restaurants, cafes and pubs and a twice weekly livestock market.
The ten acres at Blaenfforest has not been 'farmed' for many years and as a result has become a haven for wildlife. There is an abundance of wildflowers including wild orchids and wild daffodils and snowdrops in the 'reclaimed' old orchard. The owners are about to create a new footpath in the ancient woodland - the path will run, for part of its length, through the bluebell woods alongside the stream in the valley.
There is also endless wildlife with even evidence of an otter in the valley and extensive birdlife including Red Kites.
There is wildlife 'on the doorstep' of the cottage with Welsh Black cattle who have been introduced to keep down the weeds in the acres! The owners also keep bees, a small flock of completely free range hens, some peacocks and guinea fowl and there are often ducks on the pond. It really is an idyllic holiday cottage.
A perfect 'get away from it all' location.
