Faenog Isaf is a beautiful stone built cottage rich in historic
features and situated in an idyllic location nestling in gently
undulating Welsh valleys. It is perfectly placed for exploring
the beaches of west Wales and the dramatically beautiful
Ceredigion countryside. Just a short drive away is Cardigan Bay
and its glorious sweeping coastline, where you can choose to tackle
challenging coastal walks, or opt to relax with a paddle and an ice-cream!
Around 6 miles from the cottage sits the pretty Georgian town
of Aberaeron where you'll find a selection of shops, tea rooms, pubs and
places to eat. The University town of Lampeter offers both fly and coarse
fishing while golfing and horse riding can also be found in the area.
Also close by is New Quay from where there are daily boat trips, during which,
if you're lucky, you might even spot a bottle-nosed dolphin!
Many water sport activities are on offer in this area - excellent canoeing
facilities are available in nearby Llandysul. The choice of beaches is
endless - each with their own distinctive character: there are opportunities
for surfing, sailing and swimming in Aberporth. The stunning Poppit Sands is a
fantastic sandy stretch of beach just a short hop from the cottage, while at
Mwnt Beach, the headland towers above a secluded sandy bay and Cardigan Island
can be seen from the cliff tops.
The Cerdigion coast has inspired artists for centuries and there is a rich
tradition of crafts including events at Cardigan Open Studios which has a
full programme during August and September and throughout the year. This is a
rich habitat for wildlife: seals, dolphins and porpoises can be seen -
and in the sky - kites, buzzards and even nuthatches. Just 8 miles from the cottage,
north of Talsarn, red kites can be seen feeding in their hundreds at certain
times of the day, a spectacular sight.
This part of Wales is rich in heritage - Newcastle Emlyn Castle, Cardigan Castle
and Cilgerran Castle are all within easy reach of Faenog Isaf cottage.
Also a short drive away is Fantasy Farm which is a great family day out.
Whether you are in a large group of friends or a family, are interested in
