Cwt Mochyn is an eco-friendly self-catering cottage in a pictureseque setting. Banceithin is a 9.5 acre smallholding in Ceredigion, West Wales, close to the village of Bethania, and nestling between the Cambrian Mountains and Cardigan Bay. This cottage, sleeping 6, is one of two beautiful barn conversions that are ideally placed for exploring the unspoilt landscape of Ceredigion and the stunning coastline. The owners aim to offer quality accommodation with as little impact on the environment as possible while managing to mix contemporary design, modern convenience and beautiful period features. The cottage is perfect for sampling the area's scenic walks, cycle tracks and golf courses as well as many lakes and rivers for fishing.
The area boasts numerous paths for walkers of all levels and fitness - from cliff top paths along the Ceredigion Coast, river trails of the Teifi, Aeron, Ystwyth and Rheidol or hikes in the Cambrian Mountains. Walking guides are included in the cottage. Just seven miles from your self-catering accommodation is the Cardigan Bay coast, offering a choice of many beautiful beaches from smugglers coves to long sandy stretches with sand dunes.
The cottage is perfect for cyclists too - Ceredigion has many dedicated cycle routes such as the Ystwyth Trail and the Rheidhol Cycleway, and on the doorstep of the cottage is a circular cycle route to Aberaeron. Mountain bikers are also well catered for, with three main mountain biking trails near the cottage at the Nant Yr Arian Forest Visitor Centre.
Cardigan Bay has a well earned reputation for fresh produce, including Welsh lamb and beef and fresh seafood from local waters. A local pub serving home made food and traditional ales is a short distance from the cottage and the area has some of the finest restaurants in West Wales within 20 minutes drive. Also from this lovely barn conversion is the pretty Georgian seaside resort of Aberaeron and the town of Aberystwyth, home of the Vale of Rheidol steam railway and modern Arts Centre.
But you might choose to do nothing at all, for this is a cottage with idyllic surroundings, where the only sight and sounds might be from the frogs in the grassland and the red kite overhead. You might just wish to escape for a bit and relax in this eco-friendly cottage in Wales.
