Swallow Cottage is one of three accessible holiday bungalows that are situated in 8 acres of quiet countryside. The cottage nestles in a landscape of rolling hills, secret valleys, and wildlife aplenty. There are a variety of lovely walks from the doorstep, through an acre of woodland covered with bluebells, primrose, gorse and wild roses. Rated 5 stars by the Welsh Tourist Board, Swallow Cottage is the perfect destination for a walking, cycling, fishing or bird watching holiday.
Lake Vyrnwy is a 40 minute drive from the cottage, surrounded by stunning scenery of river, meadow, forest and gorge, and the biggest and one of the most picturesque lakes in Wales. Two minutes from Lake Lake Vyrnwy Dam, is the Old Sawmill where there is a cafe, bicycle hire and a shop for crafts and gifts. Swallow Cottage is also convenient for visiting the medieval Powys Castle and gardens, and Glansevern Hall and gardens where unusual species of tree and diverse horticulture span 20 acres.
This part of Wales offers plenty of activities for all the family - children will love the great little steam train - the Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway starts in the nearest village of Llanfair Caereinion. There is a swimming pool 10 miles from the cottage, and the cottage itself has a play area and games room. There are opportunities for fishing in the canal, and the Rivers Banwy and Severn as well as a golf course just 4 miles from the house.

Accommodation:
This spacious five star Welsh holiday cottage sleeps 6 in 3 bedrooms. Like the two other cottages on the same plot, it is completely on one level and accessible for wheelchair users. The carpeted lounge, contains 2 three seater sofas and an easy chair, flat-screen TV with satellite, a DVD and stereo. There is a door leading on to a private balcony, a lovely place to sit with a glass of wine. In the spacious kitchen/diner is a large table, with 6 chairs from where you can watch the birds. The kitchen is well-stocked with crockery and cutlery, Calor gas cooker, fridge-freezer, dishwasher and washing machine.
There is one double bedroom, and two bedrooms that have twin beds - for a small charge one can be made into a superking bed. A cot and high chair can also be provided. The large modern tiled wetroom is equipped with 10 various shaped and positioned grab rails, a roll-in shower, bath and raised w.c. The cottage also has a separate w.c. with wash hand basin.
Wireless internet is available for guests wishing to bring their own laptop. There is no mobile phone reception at the cottage, but a payphone is available at reception. Outside is a children's play area, and a games room with table tennis, pool table and darts making this is a great self-catering holiday cottage for families.

A458 west from Welshpool to Llanfair Caereinion, B4389 signposted Newtown, 1 mile up Gibbet Hill, left at minor cross roads, 0.4 miles, fork right, 0.4miles, turn right, half mile to white house on left side of road.
What's included:
All heating and electricity costs are included in the rental price. Bed linen, teatowels and some towels are provided. Hoist, bed raisers, bed guards available on request. Please request our access statement for more information.
Change over day is Saturday. New guests welcome from 3pm. Guests are asked to vacate the property by 10am but there is flexibility available. Short breaks and weekend bookings outside school holidays, minimum 2 nights stay.
The owner has two other cottages, Blackbird Cottage sleeping 6 and Wren's Nest Cottage sleeping 3.
