Talybont-on-Usk, Brecon, Powys

Molly's Cottage has been recently renovated and decorated to an extremely high standard and makes a wonderful place to stay for those looking for a romantic retreat or a base from which to explore this beautiful part of Wales.

The cottage is situated in Talybont-on-Usk, a pretty village that lies within the Brecon Beacons National Park. The surrounding countryside boasts stunning valleys and unspoilt landscape interspersed with the market towns of Brecon and Crickhowell and the famous second-hand bookshop centre of Hay-on-Wye. From the village it is possible to walk in almost any direction and enjoy the abundant wildlife and far reaching views. The Monmouthshire - Brecon canal runs through Talybont-on-Usk and the village has an excellent range of pubs and inns and is well served by local shops.

Only a few miles away in the next valley is Llangorse Lake which has extensive watersports facilities. It is possible to sail, canoe, hang-glide, pony-trek, mountain bike and rock climb all within easy reach of the cottage. For golfers there is a choice of 18 hole golf courses and bowling, tennis, squash and indoor swimming are all available nearby. There are certainly plenty of opportunities for anyone who wants to be active.

Brecon is only a 10 minute drive away and is well served with a cinema, theatre, cathedral and supermarket. There is also a wonderful covered market which is home to some great local characters selling top quality produce. The book lover's paradise of Hay-on-Wye is about 35 minutes drive, a good stop off for any visitors en route to the Michelin starred restaurants of Ludlow or Hereford, with its famous chained library and the historic thirteenth century Mappa Mundi.
