This beautifully converted stone barn, dating back to 1822, offers beautiful views of the Usk valley and the peaks of the Brecon Beacons. Renovated using the original Welsh stone and slates, handmade oak doors and beams, Chalgrove will provide a very warm and comfortable home for your holiday.

Situated near Brecon, the surrounding area has many attractions. For a girls' weekend away, you can enjoy an afternoon at the spa at Peterstone Court. Guys can go golfing or horse racing at Ffos Las or Chepstow, or enjoy local rallying events. Families can visit some of the play barns and open farms in the area. Also in the hills around Brecon, everyone can enjoy some of the finest walking and mountaineering in Britain. The River Usk and Wye provides excellent fishing. Nearby you will find rolling hills, woodland, canal walks and river valleys.

The summer months provide visitors with the opportunity to enjoy a range of culture events, including the renowned Hay on Wye Literature Festival, the Royal Welsh Show, Builth Wells and Brecon Jazz Festival. In the Autumn, there is the Abergavenny Food Festival in addition to the Brecon Food Festival.

Villages in the Brecon area have some outstanding pubs, offering good food. There are wider range of eateries in Brecon, including an excellent Italian restaurant.

Accommodation:
This is an unique and special place to stay. Decorated with Farrow and Ball colours, oak beams, hand made oak doors, crisp linen sheets with oak furniture combined with many contemporary touches. The lovely oak stairs lead you to four immaculate bedrooms, designed to provide you with a restful sleeping place with plenty of little accessories.

The master bedroom, with fitted wardrobe, has an adjoining en-suite bathroom with bath, shower, sink and wc. Bedroom two has a comfortable double bed complimented with oak furniture plus an en-suite shower room, sink and wc. Bedroom 3 is galleried with king size bed, and bedroom 4 is a twin, ideal for children. Bedrooms 3 and 4 have the use of the family bathroom on the landing which has shower over the bath, WC and sink.

Downstairs, there is large welcoming sitting area with beautiful views across untouched farmland towards the Brecon Beacons. The room has a TV/DVD with freesat Sky, and electric wood burning effect stove. There is a charming kitchen, well equipped with ample storage space and a table, seating up to 8 persons. Double electric oven, dishwasher, fridge in kitchen extending through to utility room with additional fridge freezer, washing machine and sink. Laundry accessories are all provided. There is a shower room with WC and washbasin also downstairs for those covered in mud after a days walking and adventuring. In addition there is a further 'snug room' with sofa for a quiet relaxation room for reading, ideal for writing or just peace and quiet away from it all.

The property is situated on the boundary of the Brecon Beacons National Park, and offers outstanding and dramatic views, particularly at dawn and dusk.

On change over day, departure is before 11am and arrival after 4pm. We are fully flexible for short breaks, weekend or mid week. The property is not too big for couples, please enquiry for couple only deals.
